When will cherry blossoms bloom in Nagoya in 2025?

The Japan Weather Association have declared when they expect Nagoya to see the first cherry blossoms of the year.

The official “2025 Cherry Blossom Bloom Forecast” has been released and the Japan Weather Association have determined when cherry blossoms are expected to start blooming across Japan.

Nagoya, a major city in central Japan, offers a beautiful and accessible cherry blossom viewing experience.

The cherry blossom season in Nagoya and surrounding Aichi Prefecture does not begin quite as early as Kyushu nor does it start as late as Hokkaido.

Nagoya provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy this iconic Japanese tradition in mid-spring.

So, when can you expect to see the cherry blossom trees start to bloom in Nagoya?

Predicting the precise timing of the cherry blossom season in Japan involves careful observation of weather patterns, temperature, and the type of cherry trees in each region.

Generally, the cherry blossom season in Nagoya begins in late March and reaches its peak in late March or early April.

Throughout Japan, the cherry blossom season is short. It may only last 1-2 weeks and does not last longer than 4 weeks.

Based on the official forecast, Nagoya can expect see the first cherry blossoms of the season to start from 23rd March this year.

Other areas of the country will see the cherry blossom season at different times between March and May.

Cherry blossoms are expected to start blooming in Fukuoka and Kochi on March 20th.

Fukuoka is expected to begin seeing cherry blossoms from the 20th March

Osaka should start to see blossoms from 25th March with southern and central Japan being in full bloom by the end of March.

You can see cherry blossoms in Tokyo from the 22nd March

In April the cherry blossom season should begin in earnest in the north of the country. It is expected to begin in Sendai from 2nd April and in Aomori from the 16th.

The season starts later than the rest of the country in Hokkaido with the first blossoms expected in late April with a date of 23rd April advised for Sapporo.

As with any forecast, it may be subject to change and the Japan Weather Association plan to issue updated forecasts if required.
