Cheese Famichiki returns to FamilyMart for 2025 - and it's cheesier than ever before

FamilyMart is introducing two exciting new additions to its popular hot food lineup for 2025.

The delectable new “Rich Cheese in Famichiki” and “Crispy Chicken in Cream Cheese Sauce” will be available at approximately 16,200 FamilyMart stores across Japan starting February 11th, 2025.

“Rich Cheese in Famichiki”, priced at 248 yen (inc. tax, approx. $1.60 USD/£1.29 GBP), has been created in part due to the overwhelming popularity of its predecessor, “Cheese in Famichiki”, which was released back in 2021.

Since the original “Cheese in Famichiki” disappeared from stores, fans have been calling for its return.

The new 2025 version is likely to have been worth the wait, as it boasts the most generous amount of cheddar cheese ever used in Famichiki history.

This indulgent creation is described as offering a symphony of flavors, combining the juicy, satisfying texture of Famichiki with a rich and decadent cheese experience.

“Famichiki” is a cornerstone of FamilyMart’s menu and has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 2.3 billion servings in cumulative sales as of December 2024, solidifying its position as the most popular product across the entire FamilyMart network and this new cheesy addition is sure to boost sales even further.

Fans of the product can even enter a social media lottery to win “Famichiki” merch from the 25th of February until the 3rd of March.

By following the FamilyMart official X account @famima_now and replying to the lottery post with the specified hashtag, one lucky winner will walk away with a “Rich Cheese in Famichiki” bag.

The second new product is the “Crispy Chicken in Cream Cheese Sauce”, priced at 198 yen (inc. tax, approx. $1.28 USD/£1.03 GBP), a new flavor for the beloved Crispy Chicken, which has become increasingly popular among FamilyMart customers, exceeding 200 million units sold as of September 2024.

This innovative offering features a creamy, indulgent cream cheese sauce that perfectly complements the crispy chicken, creating a truly irresistible flavor combination.

Both products are expected to be exceptionally popular and stores will only have a limited number of each item per day, so we’d recommend getting to your nearest FamilyMart as early as possible to sample them.

No end date for sales has been announced, so it’s likely that they’ll both be available at FamilyMart stores across Japan for the foreseeable future.
