Event Overview
Yushima Tenjin Shrine has been a famous plum blossom spot to visit since the Edo period.
The plum festival has been held since 1958, with the support of the various parishioner neighbourhood associations and other related organizations.

The festival has grown in size with each passing year, now attracting around 400,000 people during the event.
As an annual early spring event in Tokyo, the festival is broadcast on various TV and broadcasting stations, featured in various newspapers, and is known as a seasonal feature throughout the country.


Calendar of Events
One of the most notable events taking place during the festival is the Mikoshi procession, which will take place on the 23rd February, from 13:00 to 15:00.
A traditional outdoor matcha tea ceremony will be held every Sunday during the festival period (9th Feb, 16th Feb, 23rd Feb and 2nd Mar).
An outdoor black tea ceremony will take place every Saturday and public holiday during the festival (8th Feb, 11th Feb, 15th Feb, 24rd Feb and 1st Mar).
Produce fairs will take place with vendors from various prefectures exhibiting goods and charity sales will also take place.
There will be regular musical and dance performances taking place throughout the festival.
